His wife, America, in the 1880, 1900 and 1910 censuses was listed as "widowed", so I originally thought Maurice/Morris had died prior to 1880. However, I found his 1880 census record in Alabama with a new wife and children. Not sure what's going on here, but his wife, America Webb, applied for a Confederate Army pension in 1903, and claimed that Maurice's death date was 1869, which is likely not true because Maurice is listed (as Morris) with America in the 1870 census.
Maurice was also known as Morris Franklin Evans. He was buried at Beersheba Cemetery in New Hope, Lowndes County, Mississippi.
